10th Anniversary Fun Day - Sat 1st June

Northend United Youth are holding a 10th Anniversary Fun Day at the Michelin Club on Saturday 1st June.

Activities commence at 11.00am with a Parents verses Northend Legends Football Match. Rodney Campbell

is manager of the Parents Team and Johnny Sayers is managing the Legends Team.

there are a number of Bouncy Castles from 1.00pm and a penalty kick competition at 2.30pm to name but a

few activities planned for the day.

Northend U16s (aka Wakehurst Youth ) have been drawn in a tough group in this year's Foyle Cup, with

teams in their group including the hosts Derry Colts, Strabane Athletic and top USA side Everton America.

Matches commence on Tuesday 23rd July and continue to Saturday 27th July in an action packed week.

IFA U8 Football Festival - Sat 18th May

Northend United are delighted to have entered an U8 team into an IFA 7-a-side Football Festival at the Ballymena

Showgrounds on Saturday 18th May from 10.00am to 1.00pm.

Teams in Northend's group include: Ridgeway Rovers, Ballymoney, St. Mary's and Holywood.

Boys and girls are to meet at the Showgrounds Reception area for 9.30am sharp

NWCDYL U11 Fair Play Award 2012-13

On Saturday morning the management team of Conor Connolly and Desy Metrustry, together with players

Charlie and Oisin, accepted the 2012/13 NWCDYL Fair Play award on behalf of worthy recipients, Northend

United FC Under-11s.

As part of the successful North East PEACE III Partnership Mini Soccer games centre at Ballysally, the NWCDYL

have been running Fair Play leagues alongside competitive football leagues. Fair Play was judged on various

criteria including on field behaviour, respect for referees, coach behaviour, spectator behaviour, media

comments etc and at NWCDYL the organisers felt that these awards served to reward teams who have proved

to be superb ambassadors for the sport we all love.

The Fair Play awards were an initiative suggested by Kyle Ferguson from North East PEACE III Partnership and

Kyle has provided the awards for what is an important aspect of the development of our young players.

This award is fitting recognition for the Northend Under-11s who have been a credit to their coaches, their parents and their club all season. Well done.

The organisers were again delighted with another excellent day's golfing at the annual Northend United

Youth FC Golf Fundraising Day, held at Galgorm Castle Golf Club. With numbers up on last year's

attendance and the weather almost staying dry, a number of golfers have been enquiring on what date

next year's tournament will be held.

Northend United Youth and Wakehurst FC Partnership

As chairman of Northend United Youth FC, I would like to take this opportunity to convey how delighted we are

to be entering into a partnership with Wakehurst FC. This will allow our youth team players, in due course, the

opportunity in progressing to play Irish League football with such a prestigious club as Wakehurst FC.

This year 2013 sees the 10th anniversary of the founding of Northend United Youth. The club was formed as a

single team to compete in the Ballymena Youth League in 2003 under the direction of our current Football

Development Co-ordinator and founder member John Devlin. Our partnership with Wakehurst FC is something

that we will embrace and we relish the challenge to develop our youth to the standard required to don the famous jersey.

As with any other youth football club, Northend United Youth FC are always on the lookout for new coaches and players

to strengthen their existing teams and would encourage anyone interested to come to their training sessions at the

Ballymena Showgrounds each Monday night. Let me say again how excited we are at Northend United Youth FC to

be involved in this partnership with Wakehurst FC and to quote the old advertisement, the future looks, well, Black and White

Ballymena Showgrounds 3G pitch with dates as follows:

P5 - Sat 8th June 7-a-side

"Dare To Be Different" Wednesday 20th March

"Dare To Be Different" an innovative new approach from Northend United Youth, introducing free midweek

football to the youth of Ballymena has come to and end after its ten weeks duratiion at the Ballymena North Centre. #

Almost 100 boys have taken part in the three different groups over the ten weeks.

The officers iof Northend United would like to thank the Ballymena Policing and Community Saftey Partnership for

helping to fund the course, the Dare to be Different Drugs and Alcohol Awareness Councilling Team and the staff of the

Ballymena North Centre, for facilitating such a great success story.

Golf Fundraising Day - Sunday 21st April

With little over 10 weeks to Northend's Annual Golf Fundraising Day on Sunday 21st April, plans are

already well advanced for the big day at Galgorm Castle Golf Club.

Tournament organisers, Phil and Rodney aim to build upon the huge success from last year's tournament

when a number of Sporting Celebrities turned out to support the Northend cause.

The organisers have already received a number of 4-ball entries for this year's event. With slots filling up

fast, participants are asked to get in contact with Phil or Rodney as soon as possible to reserve a slot in

what promises to be another great day's golf.

IFA Development Squad

The Club would like to congratulate one of its talented young players, Oisin O'Mullan, who made it

through to the final selection of the Irish Football Association's 2003 North West Development Squad.

The final selection of eighteen players in each age group has been enrolled on an eighteen week Development

Programme, consisting of technical and physical inputs, designed to improve all round footballing capability.

This young top dog is a graduate of the Northend United Football Development Centre, having attended

for a number of years now, before playing for Northend's successful U9 and U10 teams in the North West

and Coleraine and District Youth League.

this week to receive an invitation to the Liam Neeson, Freedom of the Borough, Ceremony being held

at the Braid on Monday 28th January 2013.

The invitation was in recognition of the vast amount of voluntary community work that John and the

Northend United Youth FC have been involved in over the years

"Dare To Be Different" Wednesday 16th January

"Dare To Be Different" ia an innovative new approach from Northend United Youth being held in the

Ballymena North Centre for the next ten weeks on a Wednesday night, specifically aimed at young persons

aged 8 to 16 who have never played football before or who have drifted out of the game. Split into three

different age groups, participation is planned as follows:

2002s to 2004s - Wednesday 16th January to Wednesday 30th January

2000s to 2001s - wednesday 6th February to Wednesday 20th February

1997s to 1999s - Wednesday 26th February to Wednesday 20th March

The course has free admission and is designed to not only encourage young people to lead a healthier lifestyle through the medium of football but also has an educational element built into it.

Open to any young person in Ballymena who fancies a kick around, Application Forms can be obtained from the Ballymena North Centre, from any Northend Coach or by printing off a copy on Northend's website www.northendunitedyouthfc.co.uk . Demand is expected to be high for this course, so early registration is essential.

Injury Update

It was great to see Thomas Brady in attendance with the Northend team today for the match against

Ballymena, giving the team a big lift for this important match.. It's only been 12 weeks from Thomas

broke both bones in his right leg in the last Derby match against Ballymena United. His injury is healing

well and Thomas hopes to be back in training come February and is already pencilling in a return to

action in March, such is the determination of this young man!

Each day the course commences at 9.30am and will be finished for 5.00pm (or earlier).

Congratulations to Northend's U11s who rounded off an excellent season when they were awarded

the Fairplay Award for the Belfast and East Antrim League for the 2011/12 season. This award finishes

off an excellent season for the Boys wherein they won the League Title and Shield Competition in

addition to being beaten finalists in the Cup Final.
